Banarasi Georgette Silk Sarees come from Varanasi, also called Banares, a town in Uttar Pradesh in Northern India. These sarees are woven with pure georgette silk that is made from twisted yarns that impart a grainy texture and a spring to it. These sarees are characterized by their brocade or zari work. A popular choice for brides and the wedding party, these sarees boast of a Mughal-inspired embroidery. The motifs used are floral and foliate, upright leaves in the border, detailed figurines and meenakari work. Due to their intricate work, these sarees can take anywhere between 15 days to 6 months to complete.
